You’re Not Alone, and That’s Okay.

Well, another Gen Con is upon us. If you’re there, have fun. I’m still disgruntled about being stuck here in Iowa.
Another Gen Con is upon us. If you’re lucky enough to be there, I sincerely hope you have a blast.

As for me? I’m in Iowa. Still here. Still hustling. Still dreaming.

I want to go. Badly. But family obligations, cost of travel, and, well… life… say otherwise. So instead of pretending I’m not a little bitter, I’m just going to say it: It stings.

I know what it’s like to scroll past endless videos from creators with giant followings, sponsored trips, early access badges, and “survival guides” for conventions they attend like clockwork. It starts to feel like the rest of us are just peasants watching royalty parade through the streets.

But here’s the thing: I’m not giving up. I’m going to keep creating. Keep writing. Keep filming. Because one day I will walk into Gen Con, not just as a fan, but as a peer.

If you’re in the same boat: tight wallet, big dreams, don’t feel ashamed. You’re not alone. And you don’t need a $3,000 trip to prove you belong in this hobby.

We belong here, right now.

I’m taking a little break this weekend. No social media. No YouTube. I just need some quiet. I hope wherever you are, you find peace and joy this weekend whether you’re gaming at Gen Con or just rolling dice at your kitchen table.

And when I come back? We’re going to keep building this little rebellion together.

Stay strong. Stay weird. Stay you.

Thank you for being here with me today. I appreciate you. Keep it real, but please strive for positivity, too. Please embrace the things that bring you the most joy in your life.
