Can your PC’s have pets?

*Tiny Whispering Bunny-Bear*

The ili pika resembles a cross between a tiny teddy bear and a bunny, with round ears, bright eyes, and soft, dense fur. They make high-pitched squeaks like whispers of joy. Rare and kind, Magical Friendly Ili Pikas appear to travelers in need of hope.

If the ili pika is a companion, it acts on its PC’s turn, on its own. It isn’t capable of attacking, but there are other things it can do.

Ferocity: 1  Size: Tiny

MONSTER ATTACKS

1: Nuzzle of Courage: One friend in contact gains 1d4 WP back. (Can’t exceed max WP.)
2: Hide and Squeak: The ili pika turns invisible and hides behind the nearest available cover. (Sneaking 14)
3: Blink Squeak: Teleports 6 meters, preferably behind cover.
4: Hopeful Look: All friends within 2 meters are granted a Boon on their next roll.
5: Eep: The Magical Friendly Ili Pika looks up with soft mournful eyes, causing a Bane on the attack rolls any enemy within 4 meters for one turn.
6: Beacon of Cute: Glows faintly; Boon to allies’ WIL rolls as long as they are within 4 meters until the end of the Stretch.

Encounter Idea:

Eeeep? Squeak!

High in the misty mountain passes, the path narrows between ancient stone formations that hum faintly with old, forgotten magic. Wildflowers grow in clusters near bubbling springs, and a crisp breeze carries the faintest scent of thyme and snow.

As the adventurers stop to rest or take in the view, they hear a high-pitched squeak—barely audible, like a laugh caught in the wind. A tiny round-eared creature with wide eyes and dense grayish-brown fur peeks out from under a mossy rock: an ili pika, the so-called “whispering bunny-bear” of alpine folklore.

It watches with curiosity, sniffing the air. If offered food (berries, dried fruit, or fresh greens), it will slowly approach. If spoken to kindly or gently encouraged, it makes a chirping noise and hops once in place.

What the Players Can Learn (Beast Lore check):

  • Ili pikas are rarely seen.
  • They are said to appear to travelers who have recently experienced hardship but not lost hope.
  • Local stories say those who earn their trust are blessed with “whispers of protection.”

Magical Consequence:
If the party shows consistent kindness (such as feeding it, protecting it from danger, or simply talking to it gently), the ili pika may choose to bond with one PC—especially the kindest or most wounded. This becomes a Magical Companion (use the Ili Pika stat block), with the following extra benefit:

Whisperbond: Once per adventure, the bonded PC may reroll a failed INT or Beast Lore check as the ili pika softly coos encouragement.
