There’s a board game on Kickstarter that I wanted to mention briefly. It’s called Holy War: Battlefield Tactics. It’s a bit like Heroscape in terms of how the gameplay looks. Droege Boy Creations (Games)

It’s about House David vs House Saul. From what I’ve seen on YouTube it looks well put together. If you’re into more historical and less fantasy style games, this might be perfect for you.

The creators asked me to take a look at it on Instagram and I agreed. I’m glad I did because this is one that normally wouldn’t have found its way to me. It’s a little outside of my normal wheelhouse, and It’s good to branch out occasionally. It’s always nice to take a break from roleplaying and throw down on a minis wargame or boardgame like this.

As I spent many years in TTRPG, miniatures, and boardgame retail, I’ve seen a lot of games go by. This is one I would be taking a long look at to both recommend and try out. It’s fully funded already, so I know others much be interested as well.

The components look top notch, similar to Stratego. The unit cards remind me a lot of Heroscape. The board actually reminds me of the good old wargaming days with cardboard chits. (It’s a good thing.)

I really admire how hard this family team has worked to make this game happen. They’ve really put the time and effort into making it work. I’m happy to promote just about any game when it looks like an honest effort is being put toward a quality product. And it’s from a family owned business, which is always good to see.
