Star-Demon, Mind Reaver, Visitor from Beyond
They are whispered about in mountain shrines and remote farming villages alike. Small, pale oni with oversized heads and eyes like black mirrors. They arrive silently. They leave scars on the mind. And sometimes they leave offerings behind that do not belong to this world.
Some scholars insist they are demons. Others claim they are spirits fallen from the stars. The Gray Oni never corrects anyone.

Special Abilities
Adaptive Energy Field
The Gray Oni is surrounded by a faint, shimmering distortion. The first successful physical attack against it each round gains 2 Armor. Subsequent attacks add 1 Armor. This armor resets at the beginning of each round.
Mind Harvest
By spending 1 WP as an action, the Gray Oni may force one creature within 10 meters to make a WIL roll. On a failure, the victim loses 1d6 WP and gains a Condition.
Silent Levitation
The Gray Oni can move over difficult terrain and gaps without penalty, appearing to glide rather than walk. It leaves no tracks unless it wishes to.
Alien Presence
At the start of combat, all non-demons who can see the Gray Oni must make a WIL roll. Those who fail suffer a Bane on their first action due to dread, disorientation, or intrusive thoughts.
Combat Behavior
Gray Oni avoid prolonged physical combat. They disable, confuse, and extract information before retreating. If reduced to 5 HP or fewer, they attempt to flee immediately, often using terrain or darkness to vanish without explanation.
Lore & GM Notes
Gray Oni are not conquerors. They are observers, collectors, and experimenters. Villages plagued by strange dreams, missing livestock, or circular scars in fields may unknowingly sit atop a site of repeated Gray Oni visitation.
Their tools often stop functioning after a few days… unless someone very unlucky keeps them close.
Random Encounter
The party encounters a lone mountain hermit who insists the stars spoke to him last night. As he talks, his shadow moves slightly out of sync with his body.
Adventure Seed
A rural shrine dedicated to warding off oni has mysteriously begun to work too well. No demons approach. No spirits linger. Even animals avoid the area. Something else has taken notice, and it does not appreciate competition.
