This game by 2 Little Mice and Free League Publishing is really taking off.

You can get in on the action on BackerKit here.

I’m in awe of how fast this game was funded. I looked at the BackerKit about five minutes after launch and the project was already funded three times over. I said on X(Twitter) that it could easily win an Ennie for Game of the Year at the rate it is going.

Twilight Sword is being created by Riccardo “Rico” Sirignano and Simone Formicola  with art by Daniela Giubellini.

Here’s some of what’s available:

  • Core Rulebook: Everything players need to create their Champion, including five Kin, six Ways, a rich selection of Feats and Equipment, and the complete rules of the game.
  • Lands of Radia: A comprehensive guide for Game Masters, filled with monsters, legendary weapons, hidden lore, and ready-to-play adventures.
  • Starter Set: A compact box (11x11x11 cm) containing everything needed to begin playing, including a rule booklet, an introductory mini-campaign, dice, pre-made Champions, and tokens.
  • Card Chest: A treasure box (11x11x11 cm) packed with more than 200 cards featuring monsters, bosses, weapons, and map tiles to enhance every adventure.

What’s it about?
After teaming up for the ENNIE Award Winning Outgunned, Two Little Mice and Free League Publishing are back with Twilight Sword, an adventure role-playing game inspired by classic video-games like The Legend of Zelda, Dragon Quest, Wonder Boy in Monster Land, and by the animated movies of Studio Ghibli. In Twilight Sword, players take on the role of Champions who try to bring back Hope to the lands of Radia.

Only after setting the world free from Despair, will the heroes gain access to the Fortress of Evil, where they can face the scourge Vardas in a battle that will decide the fate of Radia.

TRAVEL THE WORLD: Radia is a vast land waiting to be discovered, and Twilight Sword offers dozens of prompts to create unique adventures.

Exploring the world and learning its secrets is an essential step in the journey toward the Fortress of Evil, but the Champions will quickly learn that every journey has its pitfalls.

BRING HOPE: In order to move forward in their adventure, gain new powers, and open the Fortress of Evil, the Champions need to gather a certain amount of Hope. Hope can be collected by helping people in need around the world, and even seemingly insignificant gestures can make a difference. Defeating a scary Monster and helping a young man profess his love are both worthy deeds that can dispel Despair.

FIGHT MONSTERS: The scourge Vardas brought an army of evil Monsters to Radia, creatures that can’t be reasoned with, and that have been ravaging villages and roads. It is a Champion’s duty to fight Monsters, and to restore peace and serenity to every Region.

Final thoughts for now:

This game is already climbing the charts. I don’t know if it will hit a million Euro yet, but it’s trying to. I’m enthusiastic about this game because Free League Publishing and 2 Little Mice have a proven track record for fulfilling excellent crowd funded projects in the past. Plus I get to play a Mallard in another game world. (LOL!) I honestly think the setting and the CAT system mechanics are worth checking out if the style of Table Talk Japanese RolePlaying Games appeals to you.

Thank you for being here with me today. I appreciate you. Keep it real, but please strive for positivity, too. Please embrace the things that bring you the most joy in your life.
