Description:
A dracolisk is what happens when a dragon’s arrogance and a basilisk’s malice combine in one unfortunate egg. The creature’s six clawed limbs can dig through stone or propel it into the air for short bursts of gliding. Its wings are powerful but not suited for true flight, used instead to leap, vault, or buffet foes with wind and flame. The dracolisk’s hide is thick, mottled like old bronze, and its eyes glow with the slow-burning hate of petrified souls.

Ferocity: 2 Size: Large
Movement: 10 ground / 14 leap-assisted Armor: 5 (natural) HP: 46

Burrow: The dracolisk can burrow through earth or soft stone up to 8 meters per round.
Leap Glide: It can make a long jump up to 10 meters or glide downward safely from heights.
Immunity: Immune to fire and its own petrification effect.

MONSTER ATTACKS

1: Tail Sweep: Sweeps its tail in a 6-meter arc. All creatures in range take 2d6 bludgeoning damage and are knocked prone.

2: Stone Gaze: The Dracolisk turns its attention toward the player character who currently has the highest HP. If the victim can see (i.e., is not blind or blind-folded), they must make a WIL roll (not an action). On failure, their body turns to stone and the victim can no longer move or perform any actions whatsoever, but also cannot take damage. A petrified victim dies after 2D6 rounds, but the petrifaction can be reversed with a successful WIL roll. While still alive, the victim may roll once per turn. The DISPEL spell (power level 1) can also undo the petrifaction, but only if the victim is still alive.

3: Fire Breath: The fire forms a cone that is 10 meters long and whose width at any given point equals the distance from the dragon’s mouth. Anyone hit by the flames suffers 3d6 fire damage. Armor has no effect.

4: Bite: The dracolisk bites with crushing jaws for 2d10 Piercing damage.

5: Claw Frenzy: The creature rears back and slashes with its front claws, hitting up to two adjacent targets for 2d8 Slashing damage each.

6: Wing-Assist Dive: The dracolisk leaps up to 10 meters, slamming into a target for 2d6 bludgeoning damage and victim is prone at the beginning of their next turn. (Armor does not protect against this attack.)

GM NOTES

The dracolisk should feel like a subterranean ambush predator — silent until the last second, using its burrow and leap to reposition mid-fight. It rarely fights to the death unless its lair is threatened.
If cornered, it will use Fire Breath and Stone Gaze in alternating rounds, then retreat into the earth.

Alchemists prize the dracolisk’s scales for their resistance to heat and corrosion. One hide can yield materials for two sets of reinforced armor or a small shield immune to ordinary flame.
