There’s a lot of noise online about which tabletop RPG is “best.” Is it the most popular? The crunchiest? The most “innovative”? Honestly, none of that matters when the dice start rolling.
Here’s the plain truth: the best game is the one your group is playing and loving.
Whether you’re running a classic fantasy crawl in Dragonbane, exploring cosmic horror in Call of Cthulhu, or laughing through a d20 goblin game by the OG GM, what matters is that you’re playing together and making memories.
Every system has strengths. Some are great for storytelling, some for tactical combat, some for quick laughs. Celebrate that! Explore new systems, sure—but never feel like your game is “lesser” because it’s not the hot thing on social media.
And don’t sweat edition wars or system snobbery. TTRPGs are supposed to bring people together, not split them apart.
So next time you sit down at the table, smile. You’ve already won. You’ve got players, dice, and a shared world. That’s the magic right there.
Keep rolling. Keep telling stories. And remember—your game matters.
