There are so many things to discuss this month.
Mega March, the annual superhero writing prompt month was the most obvious choice. Some of us do it every year. I know my friend the OG GM really enjoys it and is working on revising all of the Wretched Vigilantes material. Mega March for me translates to Power Rangers RPG and ICONS. Supers is the first TTRPG genre I ever really got into.
Mecha March is a celebration of all things giant robot related. I’m a huge fan of many mecha anime and TTRPGs. I picked up Lancer last year and I think it’s a neat game. Salvage Union is a more interesting game that deserves a little more discussion. I’m also still looking for a system that fits my mecha space game, but D6 Second Edition is coming…
Now that many Dungeon Masters and others have the new 2025 Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual in hand, (and we’ve all heard more reviews than we’ll ever care-to,) let’s talk about monsters. I’ve got some videos coming up on the subject when recording time permits. I love making monsters, talking about monsters, and sometimes even fighting various fantasy monsters.
Has the topic of monsters run its course already? As I said, we’ve all probably heard more MM25 reviews than we’d care to ever hear by now. I’m sure the hardcore Wizards of the Coast shills are already well into their copies of the next big shiny thing. I never tire of talking about monsters. Dragonbane needs more monsters.
Last, of all the things we could discuss this month, there is magic. I’ve backed off making magic items a little. Dragonbane has a magic book in the works we’re told. I’m nervous about putting out a magic book for that game until I see what the official word looks like. So far I have a half dozen schools of magic figured out and several spells outlined. As soon as the official version hits, I’ll put mine out minus any significant overlap. Until then I’ll put some basic items up on here.
There are plenty of other tidbits and surprises coming up. I want to do a deep dive into martial arts for Dragonbane at some point. My personal preference in fantasy has always been a mix of East and West. Not to mention all the cool things one can do with martial arts in a supers campaign. Giant robots and martial arts are a great mix, too.
I’ve also been toying with a couple of articles/video ideas, but I don’t want to reveal them just yet. Sorry to be so obtuse, but I want to hold onto that material until it drops. I’m always looking for that one angle that no one is covering, and I might have found a few this time.
Take care. Have a great rest of the week. Game on.
