It’s been a month. LOL!
I’m only laughing to prevent the tears from flowing. To say I’m disappointed with my efforts to date is an understatement. It’s going to get better though. Of course, no writing schedule survives contact with my family.
I have more than one project in the works on top of my beloved blog and YouTube channel. Influenza A rampaged through the house for two weeks in February when I wasn’t taking care of my mental health. Turns out physical health is important, too. Who knew?
Let me break down the projects I’m working on:
Deck of Portals for Dragonbane RPG.
This is the third revision of a project I originally slated for Dungeon Crawl Classics, then Shadowdark, and now Dragonbane. A great deal of work has already gone into this project, and I can’t just let it be for nothing. The finished version will be out in April when all goes well.
33 Road Encounters for Dragonbane RPG.
Encounters are the basis of any given adventure whether linear or sandbox. This book of encounters serves as a resource for Game Masters wishing to fill an hour or an entire session in some cases. The object is to help GMs provide players with engaging NPCs, situations and items to interact with.
I’m currently looking at having this one up before June, sooner if possible. Right now the project is in the earliest stages of development. I have a list of encounters waiting to be fleshed out fully. I have completed four of them. Some are things I’ve run in other games. Others are new ideas I want to try out.
If this project is reasonably successful, I will be creating 33 encounters for other regions and conditions. Examples include 33 Forest Encounters, 33 City Encounters, 33 Traps, and 33 Monster Encounters. Depending on sales, etc I might expand to other games, genres, etc.
The long term project:
Ever since I got into BareBones Fantasy I’ve wanted to make a monster book of my own. That dream may yet be realized for Dragonbane as I already have quite a list of monsters and a retinue of weekly creatures from this site to throw in as well. I want to make sure the Encounters series is receiving some positive feedback and selling about 10-15 copies. (I’m intentionally setting the bar a bit low.)
Baby steps, ya know? Once I get a feel for how this will go I might be doing some things with my products on YouTube. I know there are people out there who might be interested in such products.
