Inspired by various Blizzard franchise characters.

I make no secret of the fact that I still play Heroes of the Storm. I thought it might be cool to make up some magic weapons for use with Dragonbane RPG presented here for free. All magical weapons are considered Mastercraft and Indestructible unless otherwise noted.

Ramzo’s Longbow of Demon Slaying: This longbow is possessed by the spirit of the dragon. It can feed upon the Willpower Points of its owner to produce the following effects:

1 WP: Fire a demon-slaying arrow with a Boon to hit demons. Does Double Damage on successful hit.

3 WP: Summon the Dragon Spirit that charges forward in a straight line striking all enemies in a straight line for 60 meters. All enemies must Evade or take 2d12 damage. All allies are healed for 1d6 HP.

Jayna’s Staff of Icy Manipulation: This staff is topped with a large blue and white crystal and has three smaller crystals magically suspended around it. The staff radiates cold and will only allow itself to be wielded by an Archmage.

1 WP: Fire an Ice Bolt at one target within 20 meters. The bolt may be dodged or parried as a normal ranged attack. It does 1d8 damage. Each Power Level beyond the first (Up to 3) adds 1d8 damage or fires an additional bolt that hits another target within range.

3 WP: Create a Storm of Ice Shards 6 meters in diameter up to 15 meters away that does 1d8 damage to ALL targets in the radius. Each additional power level increases the damage by 1d8, range by 5 meters, and diameter by 2 meters.

This staff’s effects may draw power from the body in the same way other spells do. If HP are expended this way, the staff’s wielder suffers from Frostbite and must make a CON check or be unable to heal until aside from magic until a Stretch rest with a warm fire or a Shift Rest can be performed.

The staff’s effects are also subject to Magical Mishaps.

Yldain’s Twin Scimitars of Demon Slaying: These swords are always found together and do not function if separated by a distance greater than 30 meters.
These scimitars always receive a Boon when fighting Demons and do 1d6 extra magic damage to them. Otherwise they are normal scimitars and may be used as one handed weapons or dual wielded. If used together, disregard the STR requirements and  Bane for Dual Wield, but the extra 1d6 magic damage only applies to demons.

The Old Sage Staff: This staff was enchanted by an old scholar many decades ago to aid other scholars in their quest for knowledge. It has the following magic effects.

1 WP:

  • Cast Light as per the Magic Trick
  • Cast Sense Magic by passing the staff over an item.
  • Repair Clothes: by passing the staff over the article of clothing.
  • Cast Lock/Unlock as per the Magic Trick.

3 WP: Create a Magic Circle of Protection vs Demons. The circle surrounds a radius of 4 meters around the staff and its wielder. Any Demon wishing to cross the circle must Roll an 8 or under with a Bane and take 2d6 damage to cross it/attack the occupants of the circle. Failed attempts to enter the circle inflict 1d6 magic damage to the demon.

The Old Sage Staff contains 6 WP of its own to be spent in any way the wielder sees fit, including on their own Heroic Abilities or Spells. The WP in the Staff recharge once per shift rest.

Protector of Aiger: This bizarre magic shield also functions as a weapon. This buckler has a retractable long dagger that protrudes from underneath and is worn as a bracer attached to a heavy steel gauntlet. It counts as 1H, d8 Damage Bludgeoning, Piercing, or Slashing. Normal Parry rules apply. Counts as always drawn when worn. Uses STR for Bonus Damage. Can sometimes be found in pairs and used with Dual Wield/Double Slash as normal.
