RPG that is easy to use: Dragonbane.
Welcome to my unofficial Jeff’s Drinking Game. Feel free to take a sip of your favorite beverage every time I mention “Dragonbane” or any other Free League title this month. I am 100% smitten with this game.
I’ve written quite a long review of the game starting here. You can get into Dragonbane (slurp. Mm coffee.) using the FREE Quickstart Rules available on DriveThruRPG.com via my Affiliate Link. The physical boxed set core rules are probably the best box I’ve opened since the 1980’s version of the ampersand game.
Dragonbane (coffee is so good) is almost like a board game straight out of the box. There are prewritten adventures, pregenerated characters, dungeon grid, dice, and standees ready to go as soon as you open the box. There’s even a solo adventure for players to get a feel for the world and the writing. Game Masters can get their feet wet immediately via the solo rules as well.
The dice mechanics are easy to figure out. It’s all roll under for skills. The monster stat blocks give the GM everything they need. Taking/dealing damage is as easy as the ampersand game. About the only thing that might take a few minutes to get used-to is the spell system, and it’s not that hard.

Making a Dragonbane (coffee…) character is easy and fun. I’ve made almost a dozen now and it takes maybe 10-15 minutes only because I don’t quite have all the page numbers memorized yet. The book itself has only 128 pages of awesome writing and beautiful art.
This game is amazeballs. Please go try it out. See if you find the system as easy to use as I do.
