This is almost too sweet as a prompt.
Let’s make a couple of big cat hybrid monsters for Shadowdark RPG.
First up is the Cephalion: a lion body with the head of an octopus and plenty of extra tentacles.
AC 13, HP 15, ATK 1 Bite +4 (1d10) 2 rend +5 (1d8) +2 tentacle (near) +4 (1d8 + grab), MV near (Swim), S +4, D +3, C +2, I -3, W +1, Ch -3, AL N, LV 4
Grab. DC 15 STR or immobilized Bite auto-hits each round DC 15 STR on turn to break free.
This horrible creature may also hold its breath underwater for several minutes and is quite adept at swimming.
Mass of Writhing Tentacles: Melee attacks with non-magical weapons are made with Disadvantage.
Cephalion takes double damage from all Lightning attacks.
Or, if that’s not enough to make the PCs want to stay on the boat forever, there’s the Raventiger.
The Raventiger:
Picture a Bengal tiger with the wings and tail feathers of a giant raven. This vicious predator hunts mostly in the dark and has been known to drop out of the sky suddenly onto its prey.
AC 12, HP 20, ATK 2 rend +4 (1d8) 1 Bite (1d10), OR DFA Pounce +5 (3d6) MV Far (Flight), S +4, D +2, C +2, I -3, W +1, Ch -3, AL N, LV 4
Death From Above Pounce: The Raventiger takes flight and positions itself above a creature and falls on it, landing perfectly on its feet. The creature must make a DC 15 DEX or immobilized. Bite hits automatically while immobilized. DC15 STR on turn to break free.
DFA Pounce works especially well as a Surprise attack.
Raventigers are especially afraid of fire.
