I wanted today to be about sheep with tentacles, alas…

I’d like to think I watch some of these YouTube assholes so others don’t have to.[REDACTED]- Y’all ought to shut your channels down before you get any worse. Take [REDACTED]with you. And [REDACTED]- he won’t be missed. I strongly dislike calling people out directly, and there will be no links. Please do your own research on these shitbags and see for yourself how bad it really is.

Some of these people are straight up bigots. One is just a rotten turd of a human being as far as I can tell. The worst part is, I can’t figure out why anyone goes out of their way to hate an Actual Play podcast. It’s so absurd to poke fun and trash talk people just for the sake of our differences.

A recent Polygon article started yet another TTRPG Community shitstorm.

Polygon posted a lovely article about the Transplanar RPG Actual Play Podcast- an all BIPOC, LGBTQIA cast playing Godkiller, an RPG by their GM, Connie Chang. The link to the Polygon article is HERE. The link to Transplanar’s site can be found here. I highly recommend checking out both.

The firestorm on YouTube and X(Twitter) has been the typical edgelords and old fartz complaining about the “wokeness” of it all. For once it’s not even anything Wizards of the Coast did directly. Even though the article mentions the #hadozee debacle and the language in some of the other Dungeons & Dragons books, Polygon had to drag WotC out into this just because they needed a name in the TTRPG industry that regular D&D fans would recognize. Transplanar apparently started out as 5E, but thank goodness didn’t stay that way.

I have all but given up on long form YouTube content.

I struggle sitting through a lot of Actual Play material for much the same reason I don’t often watch live streams. They’re just too long. Sometimes I do break them up into chunks and listen between errands, but anything longer than half an hour tends to lose me. I like a lot of 20-45 minute videos about the TTRPG topic. Sometimes I’ll stick it out through a live stream at 1.5x speed or something. I do watch a ridiculous amount of YouTube.

I recently left a somewhat negative comment on a YouTuber’s stream. Six hours is too much time to commit to a video. Live Stream or not, I just don’t have that kind of time. I think I was more frustrated because the video topic interested me and I just can’t commit six hours unless it’s Dr Steven Greer with a group of ETs in real time.

Connie Chang as seen in the Polygon article. Has me blocked on X (Twitter.)

I have my share of foibles.

I’ll be the first to admit I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. I have my share of things going against me. Hell, Connie Chang has me blocked on X (Twitter.) Probably something I said in another article. I suspect I might lose some followers over this one, too. Hopefully it won’t be another case of making the post private again. (Shake My Damn Head.)

My own YouTube channel has no actual videos yet. I don’t want to start out by dealing with a bunch of bigoted assholes talking trash about people who clearly did nothing but be who they are. It’s just not right. I want to discuss things I enjoy instead of “This week in TTRPG YouTube stupid.”

I want to talk about TTRPGs and the best in people.

I admire the heck out of the Transplanar crew who were literally in tears over the end of a boss battle. Do you know how difficult it is to elicit that sort of a response from players? Connie Chang deserves a medal for that one! I would love to get an emotional response at that level out of my players. Holy buckets!

The good thing that came from all of this watching of bigoted dipshits is I discovered Transplanar and the beautiful cast of people involved. I probably will go back and watch some of it, maybe all. I’m doing the best I can to keep my social media and my blog a safe space for my LGBTQIA family. I want everyone to know they are welcome around me as long as they come in peace and keep it that way.

Thanks for being here, as always. Sending lots of love and light to my #ttrpgfamily and the #ttrpgcommunity. I appreciate you.
