I found this quirky game called SteamCraft (Get Your Goggles On.) by Perilous Journeys games. It’s got a really nicely detailed Victorian steampunk fantasy setting. I found it while perusing the RPG section of Half Price Books many years ago. I think I might have only paid $15 for it at the time.

Quite honestly, I surprised much has been done with the system at all. I was able to find it on DriveThruRPG here. SteamCraft uses a d100 system that loosely compares to Mythras or BRP. I think the system is clunky, but the setting is incredibly rich and well developed.

SteamCraft. One core book does it all.

SteamCraft incorporates several disparate elements and pulls it all together in one book. There’s a little bit of Cyberpunk, but it’s Steampunk. There’s magic, but also in an early information age. It’s a little clockwork Dungeons & Dragons, but also a lot like Deadlands in some regards. The setting itself is a parody of Victorian Earth.

This isn’t a full review. I just wanted to give in a very honorable mention. I love finding secondhand games because they are ripe for pilfering setting information in many instances.

Thanks for stopping by. I truly appreciate it. Have a great week.
