My wish list on any given TTRPG site is enormous. Part of it is the ADHD and part of it is my funds since not being consistently, gainfully employed. My wish lists mostly consist of supplements and add-ons, though. Finding an actual game that I really want I don’t have at least in PDF form is kinda difficult.
When I come into a windfall of financial abundance these days, I look at the Kickstarters I could have backed or still want to back. There are lots of wonderfully talented individuals on Patreon and Ko-Fi as well who need our support. Disposable income is precious these days and we all need to look out for one another as much as we can.
If I could reach into the ether and pluck two games out of the void to own, they would be a new official Star Wars TTRPG and an officially licensed He Man and the Masters of the Universe TTRPG.
Fantasy Flight Games was doing Star Wars until production officially ceased. That’s okay because I didn’t feel like they were doing a great job with the game. I would love it if Renegade Game Studios would pick up the license at this point. Renegade does such a great job on GI Joe, Power Rangers, and Transformers that I think they could bring Star Wars to life in Essence20. Until then, it’s play the out of print versions or kit bash a bunch of rules, characters, and vehicles together for some other game system.
I’ve seen several different takes on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, but never anything official. Cartoon Action Hour Season 3 from Spectrum Games is a good choice to emulate MotU but it’s still nothing like an official game. There was apparently one in the works, but it has been put on hold indefinitely. This would be an awesome property for Renegade Game Studios as and Essence20 game, but I don’t think Hasbro or Mattel would be too keen on it. I would love it if someone would pick up the permission to use the IP because I think He-Man and She-Ra deserve some space at the gaming table. It’s a fun universe to explore and one that has been sorely overlooked for years.
As kind of an afterthought, it would also be terrific if Nintendo would expand into some official TTPRGs. I know my group played Legend of Zelda as Dungeons & Dragons for a while. I think a Final Fantasy series tabletop game would be amazeballs. The Mario movie is a convincing argument for a TTRPG set in that world with all of its cartoony goodness.
Food for thought if anyone has the millions to pursue any of those licenses. Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate you. See you again soon.
