1d12 Strange Buildings To Find In a Fantasy Village.

The characters are strolling through a seemingly normal town or village until they find:
The Shack of Luden the Cabalist: An otherwise unremarkable village building with a couple of notable exceptions. First, there is a large circle of arcane runes on the ground outside. There is a stone altar in the middle and the ground around the outside of the circle appears to be well worn. There is a set of three stone steps leading up to a small platform and podium.
A swarthy looking, pale, thin man with long black hair dwells within. He is not overly inviting and prefers outsiders stay away from his property. If anyone asks, he is well known throughout the town. (Secret) Most of the town belong to his cult. Most of the influential townspeople owe an allegiance to the Shack’s owner and whatever he worships.
Architectural Oddity: A completely round, two story circular solid stone building with a flat roof. The entrance is dug into the ground and actually leads down to a third floor. There are windows around the top at each cardinal point. Everything within is almost perfectly symmetrical.
A Landlocked Mill with a Water Wheel: Everyone living/working around this odd structure behaves as if it’s always been there and it’s perfectly normal the wheel turns with no visible water around it. The wheel turns as if pushed by a steady stream, but none is visible and the wheel is simply dug into the ground.
A Village House with a 3 Carriage Garage: A reasonably sized cottage house with a large Gothic iron framed carriage house next to it. The owner has one simple cart that can be pulled by a horse. The other two berths in the carriage house are currently empty. There are lightning rods all around the carriage house. No one seems to remember how long it’s been there or when/how it was built. It’s a large iron building with solid stone walls.
The Mortician’s Hut: The hut itself is similar to the rest of the village houses, save the coffins and stone table in the backyard. The owner is extremely creepy and aloof; almost mysterious. The town gossips contend the owner might be practicing the dark arts of some sort.
The Earthen Dome: This building is a solid half sphere above and below ground. The door is more akin to the hatch of a ship. There are no windows visible from the outside but is always (magically) bright during the day and dim at night on the inside. The structure has two separate floors, indoor plumbing, even internal temperature all year round.
The structure itself sits out of line with the other houses and streets around it, almost as if it had sprouted up there or maybe landed. The entire spherical structure is practically indestructible. Windows to the outside appear when the walls are touched by a living building and disappear when the observer steps back.
The Step Pyramid: This building might even be the centerpiece of the town/village. There are torches placed around the top of the pyramid and a stone slab on the flat roof that could be used as an altar. The inside is pretty much a regular residence only with stone architecture and a lot of features carved into the stone around the inside.
The Inner Space Shed: This building appears to be a regular toolshed or outhouse. It is true to appearance if opened without the key. However, if opened with the key, it is actually a full scale mansion on the inside complete with indoor plumbing and magical lighting.
The Church Out of Place: A large stone church with no identifiable holy symbols on the outside. In fact, this large holy temple isn’t dedicated to any deity or demigod in the characters’ known world. There is no one living within and the neighbors say it simply appeared one night in what used to be an empty lot.
The Endless Water Tower: This large metallic tower provides fresh, clean, potable water for the whole community. It is unattached to a water source, but rather magically refills itself every night. No one is sure who built it and maintenance is never required.
The Mage Tower: This type of building would seem normal in a larger city or castle, but this round tower with a pointy roof sits in the middle of the community. The townsfolk often come to the owner with their troubles hoping for a magical solution that she sometimes provides. Some of the townsfolk suspect that she is not an elf at all, but something far larger and more powerful in the shape of an elf.
The Barber Shop: This building is a two story building that seemingly covers everything. The townsfolk working here appear to be mannequins, but they are capable of speaking, understanding, and helping anyone who enters. The patrons of this establishment can get a haircut, a massage, take a bath in a natural hot spring, speak to a well-stocked, expert apothecary, or even relax with something called a “milkshake” in the spacious lounge area. The lights are always on and the mannequins never turn anyone away. It’s also one of the only buildings around with running water and quality plumbing.
