This incident happened a little over a month ago and just recently came to my attention.
I’m pretty cheesed off about this one. I just listened to an almost two hour diatribe on why Shadowdark RPG is supposedly some kind of scam or conspiracy by Wizards of the Coast and some other well known TTRPG YouTubers. Now, the guy dropping this “review” is a well known debunker and celebrity over in the other communities I came from. Unfortunately, my inner keyboard warrior has been awakened because over here in the TTRPG community, we don’t pick on Ms Kelsey Dionne.
I’ll link to the regrettable video here. Please watch it and see if you agree with me. I have (had) respect for CW Chanter in the Ufology/Spiritual community. He is a pretty smart guy not that I could prove it with this particular video. He can do so much better.

I sincerely mean it when I say I hope Chanter and I can be friends at some point. I just really think this Live video was so badly off the mark and wrong about so many things. We just don’t act like this in the TTRPG community.
I was following the Arcane Library for years prior to Shadowdark.
CW Chanter is a Johnny-come-lately to the TTRPG YouTube scene. Which he freely admits elsewhere. I think he knows old school gaming, which is kinda cool. He seems like he has a clue sometimes, just not in the case of this video. (*This is nothing I wouldn’t say on his channel or to his face, so I’m going to keep it polite.) Honestly, he seems like a cool guy if he’d just stop trying to pick fights with half the TTRPG community.
Kelsey Dionne is not a psyop or some kind of patsy. She’s a brilliant game designer, Game Master, and upstanding member of the TTRPG community as well. I have chatted with her years before Shadowdark. I know her as an intelligent, kind hearted, compassionate (dare I say) friend. I’m like a proud big brother that she’s made it absolutely huge with a TTRPG Kickstarter.
Full disclosure: I’m a late backer. I got behind it as soon as I could get the money together. It’s a great project. Kelsey’s a great designer that hit it big at just the right time. Good for her. She deserves it.
Mr Chanter, you might be brilliant in the Ufology/ET/conspiracy world, but you have no clue what you’re saying about Shadowdark. You certainly don’t know anything about the person you constantly bashed on for at least an hour. You don’t know much about Hankerin Ferinale or Professor DM, unlike those of us have been around for a while now. They know quality when it comes to games.
Kelsey busted her ass putting Shadowdark together. I know this because I was chatting with her about it long before there was a Kickstarter. Before that she was creating absolutely terrific 5E content. Chanter, you’re a researcher. Do some research. She’s not brand new to TTRPGs.
This is not the Secret Space Program.

This is not Super Space Jesus and his Blue Space Chicken cult. This is not David Wilcock and the Church of the Scamming Whackadoo. Stina Bo Bina and Jay Weidner aren’t remotely involved here. There is no government agency sneaking around here. There’s no conspiracy. Please calm the actual raging f🦆ck down, CW Chanter.
Learn more about the Secret Blue Chicken Space Program and other nonsense here. Feel free to also look into David Wilcock and Corey Goode. I’m not giving links for those two guys. They don’t need the press.
Unlike some of Blueberry Wolf Bridge’s audience, I have a foot in both worlds. I’m a gamer and New Age/spiritual/conspiracy/ET guy. I’m firmly convinced we were put in one another’s paths (again) for a reason. There are no coincidences. So, I have to wonder why here and now.
Regardless, for crying out loud, please back off of Kelsey? If you wouldn’t say it to her face, don’t say it on YouTube. Can you seriously tell me you’d be that disrespectful if you ran into any of the people you were trash talking in the Shadowdark video? Would you talk trash like that at a major convention? I wouldn’t recommend it.
Btw, did you know “that chick” you were dissing on has TTRPG writing credentials that predate Shadowdark by quite a bit? Did you know the Arcane Library has been around longer than three years? No? They’ve been on YouTube since 2017 and have 18K+ subscribers. Hmm. Sounds a lot like someone knows what she’s doing.
I’d still sit down at a table with anyone I’ve ever discussed on this blog.
Yeah, I’ve got a little history with someone I name-dropped. Twitter is a mine field when it comes to certain influencers. I’d welcome an opportunity to speak with that person I offended. I welcome it. She won’t give me the time of day, I suspect it’s because I refuse to argue with her on social media. And G___y, if this somehow gets to you, can we please bury the hatchet?
See, Mr Chanter, we’re still little people when it comes to the TTRPG scene. Your channel is still tiny. I only discovered it because someone referred to you in relation to “The OSR is dead” or whatever the clickbait title was. My blog is small. I have yet to shoot a YouTube video yet. We’re not on anyone’s radar here. Ain’t nobody blowing up over this.
But hey, CW, if you don’t believe me, keep going after Bob World Builder, Professor DM, Hankerin Ferinale, or any of the Paizo people and see if you get noticed eventually. All it takes is one person on Twitter to mention you and watch the shitstorm come rolling in. Maybe that’s part of the CW plan to get noticed? I dunno.
I believe in a benevolent Universe.
I’m also a Law of Attraction fan. I never knock on someone for being successful. The Universe has blessed them with success and abundance. More power to them. I’m so happy for the Arcane Library. Damn near $1.4 million on Kickstarter is a pretty impressive run. It went viral. That’s amazing.
Yeah, if we’re being honest, I’m a little jealous. I want to make it big in the TTRPG world. I’ve wanted to be a game designer from 1985 onward. Kelsey, you know, that “girl” CW was disrespecting in his video? She hit it big time with an OSR game. GOOD FOR HER!
If CW Chanter thinks he can do better, great. There’s plenty of room for all of us. Make a retroclone. Write a module. Come up with a monster book or more spells. Whatever it is, I hope it does well for you.
There’s no need to be jealous. Shadowdark went over a million dollars. Tales of the Valiant went over a million dollars. It can be done. There’s no great conspiracy behind it. This isn’t a WotC psyop. I have my own WotC conspiracy theories, and Shadowdark isn’t one of them.
No karma. No divine irony. I sincerely hope if YOU, (and I mean anyone,) write a TTRPG product, I hope it does well. I don’t care if it’s Kickstarter, Crowdfundr, or Itch.io. I hope we all have success in the TTRPG field. Show some love for everyone. That’s what we’re here for. We’ve all got one another’s backs in the #ttrpgcommunity, or as I say, my #ttrpgfamily.
A good TTRPG is like coming home to a warm meal and a good time.
I came to the TTRPG space and found my tribe. The New Age spiritual community is a little strained. The Ufology community is a hot mess full of shills and agents of various black budget secret corporate interests. There are CIA/DIA/Homeland agents everywhere people are talking about ETs. But the TTRPG community? No.
The TTRPG community is generally a safe space. Sure we have our disagreements, especially on Twitter. But compared to other online communities and social media groups, the TTRPG fans are a good bunch. People looking for attention through being a turd tend to not last as long there, though. Just a thought.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m available to chat any time through Twitter, Instagram, or jeffsgamebox@gmail.com. I appreciate you. Thank you for being here at this time.
